Descaler - How to descale your steamer or garment steamer
To enjoy your steamer for many years, it is important to descale it regularly.
All our models can be descaled with white vinegar or a standard descaling product from the grocery store.
After descaling, always steam twice with clean water to ensure no descaler residue remains on clothing.
A good tip is to use distilled water for everyday use – this prevents the machine from scaling up so quickly.
Descaling – step by step
1. Empty the machine of water
If your steamer has a drain plug, unscrew it so you can completely empty the tank and rinse with clean water. You may already see some limescale residue come out.
Then reinsert the drain plug.
2. Fill with descaler
Pour household vinegar or descaling solution into the water tank
– follow the dilution instructions on the product.
3. Descale and rinse thoroughly
Turn on the machine and let it steam until the tank is empty.
Then fill the machine with clean water and rinse the water tank through.
If the machine has a drain plug, you can unscrew it and rinse from there
– repeat until the water runs clear and no limescale residue appears.
For heavy limescale, you can leave the descaling mixture in the tank overnight.
4. Finish with clean water
Now fill the machine with clean – preferably distilled – water, and let it steam until the tank is empty.
This removes the last traces of descaler and ensures no limescale or descaler is expelled onto clothing.
Tip:
If you are unsure whether the machine has been rinsed completely, you can test by steaming onto a towel or dishcloth first.
